Multi-family inspection FAQ
What types of properties qualify as multi-family?
Any residential property with more than one dwelling unit qualifies: duplexes, triplexes, fourplexes, and larger apartment buildings. If you are buying a 1-4 unit investment property or an owner-occupied multi-unit, a Homesight multiplex inspection is built for it.
Do you inspect every unit in the building?
For smaller properties we inspect each accessible unit plus all shared areas. For larger apartment buildings, scope is confirmed with you before we start, typically a thorough sample of units combined with a full inspection of the roof, common areas, and mechanical rooms.
Can you handle a large building on a tight timeline?
Yes. Homesight is a multi-inspector firm, which means we can assign multiple licensed inspectors to a single property to cover the work correctly and efficiently. Need an inspection on short notice? Our large team gives us the flexibility to schedule quickly, often with same-day or next-day availability.
When do I receive the report?
You receive an easy-to-read electronic report with digital photos within 24 hours of the inspection, typically the next business day. Larger properties may require additional time on site, which we confirm when you schedule.
Are Homesight inspectors licensed for multi-family work?
Every Homesight inspector is Wisconsin state-licensed and completes annual continuing education. Our firm has been performing multi-family and commercial inspections since 1997, and every report passes a second-level review before it is delivered to you.
What areas do you serve for multi-family inspections?
We serve 13 counties across Southeast Wisconsin: Milwaukee, Waukesha, Ozaukee, Washington, Racine, Kenosha, Walworth, Jefferson, Dodge, Rock, Dane, Sheboygan, and Fond du Lac. Call the 24-hour line to confirm your address.
